Rebrand + Revitalize: Transforming Non-Profit Impact through Design Thinking

Roles

Project Lead, Website Design, Design Strategy, Content Writer + Editor, Workshop Facilitation, User Testing, Data Collection + Synthesis, Research

Challenge

Our non-profit organization faced challenges with outdated branding and ineffective communication strategies, resulting in a disconnect with our target audience and internal stakeholders. We recognized the need for a comprehensive re-branding initiative guided by design thinking principles to rejuvenate our image, enhance stakeholder engagement, and ensure alignment with our mission and goals.

Process

  • Conducted interviews, surveys, and meetings with staff, board members, and school district members to gather insights for revised content and design, ensuring alignment with learner needs and preferences.

  • Designed and facilitated collaborative ideation sessions with staff using design thinking techniques to generate innovative ideas for mission and vision statements, team values, logos, taglines, and visual elements, fostering a learner-centered approach to brand development.

  • Collaborated with the graphic designer to create mood boards, style guides, brand identity prototypes, and the organization’s repository website of 10+ years of research and work.

  • Facilitated user testing with staff on website accessibility and made ongoing data-driven adjustments to the brand strategy and implementation, ensuring continuous alignment with organizational goals and learner preferences.

Outcome

Successfully implemented the organization’s new brand identity across all learner touchpoints, including website, school resources + learning tools, social media, print materials, signage, and office space.
